You must one of those Mac Users who are in a hurry to get started using Stack Builder, and decided not to read through the "Stack Builder Help..." section (under the menu "Card Tasks")…that's O.K., I understand!
v4.1 has the option for creating graphics pages...check out the title on the Index Card.
The Main Index page is much like the table of contents for a book. You can set up your major headings on this card
(and add additional ones) using HyperCards‚Ñ¢ "New Card" menu item.
Just select "Create Major Topic" from the Card Tasks menu, enter the title you want, move the button into position, and follow the message box instructions. You are limited to 26 characters for your titles.
Next step…go to the new card associated with your new title
(button) by clicking on the title. Whoosh!…your there! Now you can either make another major topic or minor topic card using the menu commands.
The Minor Topic cards allow text entry. The "lock" icon in the upper left corner tells you whether the text field is locked or unlocked. Click on the icon to toggle from one state to the other. You must unlock the field to make an entry.
"automatically" cross reference text items on one card with information cards. This is always harder to explain than it is to demonstrate…so, why don't you trust me on this part and
(1) read the "Stack Builder Help… section and (2) go to the info card level and practice! The text field must be locked when you are using the XREF feature!
Don't go "clicking around" the screens before you have read the "Big Help" section! There are a couple of hidden buttons out there that you'll want to have read about before you click on them! They won't do
"damage", they'll just confuse you.
You can always get back to the Title Card by clicking in the
"spring binder" on the left side of the cards (even on this Mini Help card!). Clicking on any cards title or heading box will usually take you back to the previous cards, in sequence. However, "pushing" and "popping" cards can get complicated…you may find that you have to go back to the Index and "thread" your way back down to a section from time to time.
